THEMATIC AREA
1. EDUCATION
In Nigeria, millions of children are denied equal opportunity to quality education for no reason other than the community, family, gender or circumstances into which they are born. EPF Nigeria offers hope to kids whose worlds have turned upside down. The importance of education cannot be overemphasized as it is a vital tool for development; this is because the growth of any society is dependent on the level of education of its citizens. We organize creative programmes in schools with the aim of providing emotional, psychological and material support to the students and teachers, and also award scholarships to the indigent students.
2. HEALTH
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), a positive health status is defined as “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity”. To achieve total development, women, girls and children’s health and wellbeing must be prioritized, therefore EPF aids in the provision of medical assistance, free distribution of drugs, medical equipment and health education.
a). SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH
Reproductive health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity, in all matters relating to the reproductive system and to its functions and processes. Reproductive health implies that people are able to have a satisfying and safe sex life and that they have the capability to reproduce and the freedom to decide if, when and how often to do so.
EPF Nigeria, is working in line with World Health Organization and SDGs 3 in advocating and enlightening women and girls especially in the rural communities in Nigeria on the importance of sexual and reproductive health.
According to research, around 25% of maternal deaths could be averted if all women wishing to avoid pregnancy could use modern methods of contraception.
Our organization is promoting people-centered, integrated health service delivery and breastfeeding. It engages the services of health workers and medical personnels to create a preventive campaign towards the elimination of mother to child transmission of HIV, hepatitis and syphilisetc., and with the help of our partners provide access to prevention, testing and treatment of HIV and STIs
3. EMPOWERMENT
History demonstrates that, of all deprived groups in the world, women suffer the most. They have been victims of abuse, molestation, violence, rape, poverty, malnutrition, ill treatment and discrimination. In Nigeria, as well as other developing countries, women are the victims of social, political, religious, and economic subordination and deprivation. EPF Nigeria provides robust empowerment support socially, educationally, economically, politically, and psychologically to women, girls and children.
a). AGRICULTURE
In Nigeria, agriculture is the primary source of income for many women and young girls who rely on it as a means for their family’s livelihood and depend on it to sustain themselves and their families. The importance of agriculture goes above and beyond farming. It evolves into animal husbandry, forestry, fishery, beekeeping, fruit cultivation, mushroom, dairy production, the preservation, processing, distribution, and marketing of crops and livestock products.
EPF Nigeria promotes agriculture by partnering with farmers for rural development in communities, with focus on the sustainable development techniques to strengthen the rural economy and empower the local communities. To uplift women and girls from poverty and unemployment, we provide micro loans to rural women to start their own small businesses. We provide training for women to gain technical skills, confidence, and financial expertise to operate successful agri-businesses.

b). SKILL ACQUISITION/VOCATIONAL TRAINING
The EPF Nigeria women empowerment seeks to stimulate the confidence in women by providing to them everything that is in their capacity to help them see the skills that they contain and are dormant within them. Women’s economic empowerment is central to realizing women’s rights and gender equality. A proper nurturing, polishing and sharpening of those skills is made possible through better education, skill acquisition/vocational training, awareness and a space to freely express oneself. Women’s economic empowerment includes women’s ability to participate equally in existing markets; their access to and control over productive resources, access to decent work, control over their own time, lives and bodies; and increase voice, agency and meaningful participation in economic decision-making at all levels from the household to international institutions.
Empowering women in the economy and closing gender gaps in the world of work are key to achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 5, to achieve gender equality, and Goal 8, to promote full and productive employment and decent work for all; also Goal 1 on ending poverty, Goal 2 on food security, Goal 3 on ensuring health and Goal 10 on reducing inequalities.
When more women work, economies grow. Women’s economic empowerment boosts productivity, increases economic diversification and income equality in addition to other positive development outcomes.
4. ARTS/CREATIVE INDUSTRY
“People around the world are inundated with content from a variety of sources, so it takes something special to grab people’s attention. That’s why well-crafted educational entertainment is such a powerful tool for generating positive behavior change.” With this understanding, EPF Nigeria is using arts and creativity as a tool to advocate for change.
Naturally, we love to get lost in other people’s drama, even if those people are fictional. And when the characters in a story are combatting similar issues to our own, we have a chance to learn from their mistakes without suffering the repercussions ourselves.
As an NGO that has so many people from the art and creative industry as volunteers, we are using our popularity and large followership to promote the creative potentials of women, girls and children, to facilitate their participation in the democratic governance processes, and to build their capacity as the core drivers of change, While promoting their inherent talents and creative skills.
